TL;DR

  1. BFSI SEO needs to account for both search rankings and AI citations. FTA Global’s report shows that higher search volume does not automatically translate into stronger AI visibility.
  2. Between July 2024 and June 2025, the report records declining search volumes across credit cards, investments and mutual funds, alongside growth in specific product needs.
  3. Bajaj Finserv leads the report’s Google AI and ChatGPT citation counts despite having substantially lower search volume than several major banks.
  4. Regional languages, local queries and app discovery deserve separate attention, particularly for brands expanding into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
  5. Marketing teams should prioritise useful comparisons, accessible product information and visibility measurement across buyer needs, languages and platforms.

A familiar banking name can attract millions of searches and still appear less often in AI answers than a brand with a fraction of its search volume.

FTA Global’s BFSI Internet Visibility Report captures that gap. Its findings, primarily examine category demand, product searches, regional discovery, and AI citations across financial services.

For marketing leaders, the question is practical. Does your search strategy reflect how customers evaluate financial products, or mainly how often they search for your name?

‍

What Does BFSI SEO Need to Cover?

BFSI SEO helps banking, financial services and insurance brands become discoverable when people research, compare and choose financial products.

The work extends beyond ranking a loan page or attracting visits to an investment guide. Customers need answers about eligibility, charges, documentation, exclusions and product suitability before they take the next step.

An effective strategy connects those questions to accurate, accessible information. Measurement should then distinguish between appearing in search, being cited in an AI answer and generating a qualified enquiry.

Each tells you something different about your visibility.

‍

Why Can Strong Search Demand Hide an AI Visibility Gap?

The report’s brand benchmark puts the difference into perspective.

HDFC Bank records 161.8 million in Q2 2025 search volume, alongside 13,400 Google AI citations and 2,300 ChatGPT citations. Bajaj Finserv records 3.29 million in search volume, but 107,000 Google AI citations and 22,400 ChatGPT citations.

Yes Bank provides another contrast: 31.7 million in search volume, with zero ChatGPT citations recorded in the benchmark.

These are the report’s recorded counts, rather than a complete measure of every AI answer. The report does not specify the full prompt sample or citation collection window, so the figures should be treated as directional benchmarks.

The commercial implication remains clear. Existing search demand cannot substitute for measuring AI visibility directly.

A bank may attract substantial interest in its name while missing from answers about the specific products it wants to grow.

‍

Which Five Findings Should Shape Your Search Priorities?

  1. Category declines can conceal product opportunities. The report records search volume declines of 17.3% for credit cards, 26.8% for investments and 38.9% for mutual funds across July 2024 to June 2025. Yet gold loan searches grew 53% year on year in Q1 2025. Budget decisions need a product view alongside the category average.
  2. Credit card searches are becoming more specific. Rewards and lifetime free cards recorded an 18% to 20% rise in organic search interest. Fuel cards and cashback cards also showed growth. Content should address the benefit customers want, including the conditions attached to it.
  3. Aggregators occupy valuable comparison positions. The report observes that aggregators hold more than 60% of top organic positions for longer, more specific credit card queries. Their comparison tables and detailed answers highlight an opportunity for brands to explain their own products more clearly.
  4. Local discovery deserves its own plan. The report records 40% year on year growth in financial queries containing near me. Branch information, service availability and useful location pages should be part of acquisition planning.
  5. App discovery differs by market. Banking and payment app searches grew 18% in metros, while insurance and loan app searches grew 22% in Tier 2 cities. The report identifies regional language usage as an important factor in Tier 2 discovery.

‍

How Should Marketing Teams Measure the Opportunity?

Start with a defined set of commercial questions for each priority product.

A credit card team could track questions about annual fees, reward redemption and fuel surcharge waivers. A lending team could examine eligibility, required documents and repayment conditions.

Measure organic impressions, clicks, and enquiries, and whether AI answers mention the brand, cite its pages, and describe its products accurately.

Repeat the checks across relevant platforms, languages and locations. Keep the questions and reporting periods consistent enough to compare results over time.

FTA Global’s Context Authority approach adds this buyer context to visibility measurement. It helps teams examine where their brand appears for the audiences and markets that matter.

Citations remain a visibility signal. Completed applications and qualified enquiries remain separate business outcomes.

‍

What Should Your Team Change First?

Build comparisons around real decisions. Explain fees, eligibility, benefits, exclusions and limitations in a consistent format. Help customers understand the trade-offs before asking them to apply.

Keep essential information accessible. Publish important product details as readable page content. Google states that its AI search features require no special schema, and inclusion is not guaranteed. Relevant structured data should match the visible information.

Localise the buying journey. Prioritise languages based on customer demand and service coverage. Carry that language through product explanations, FAQs and enquiry support.

Choose a partner against these requirements. Selecting an AI SEO company for BFSI brands in India starts with its ability to ensure product accuracy, regional relevance, and measurable outcomes.

An LLM SEO agency for BFSI brands should explain how it checks citations and product descriptions. An LLM SEO agency for fintech brands should also connect discovery work to app journeys and acquisition goals.

FTA Global’s Search Engineering™ approach brings search and AI visibility into the same planning conversation, starting with the decisions customers need to make.

‍

Will Your Brand Shape the Comparison or Leave It to Someone Else?

The report points to an uneven market. Some categories are losing search volume while specific product needs, regional queries and AI discovery create new opportunities.

A familiar name still matters. Clear answers about why a product fits a customer’s needs matter too.

The next BFSI SEO plan should identify where those answers are missing, improve the information customers can access and measure whether the brand earns a place in their consideration.
